Monsoon in Kerala

Kerala gets rain almost 6 months in a year and it has two monsoon seasons namely Southwest and Northeast. Kerala becomes more beautiful during this season.

Southwest Monsoon arrives in the month of June is called Edavappathy, as it comes in the middle of the month of Edavam on the Malayalam Calendar. Northeast Monsoon start on the midst of October. In the Malayalam calendar this month is called Thulam and hence the name Thulavarsham meaning the 'The Rains in Thulam'. These rains are in the months of October and November and sometimes lasts till December.
Monsoon is the best time for ayurvedic treatment and therapies. During rainy season, the atmosphere remains dust-free and cool making it best to herbal oils and therapy.
