Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the eco tourism destination in kerala. The sanctuary is part of a Peppara dam constructed across the Karamana river. There are 43 species of mammals, 233 species of birds, 46 species of reptiles, 13 species of amphibians and 27 species of fishes are reported from the sanctuary. The common mammals found are Tiger, Leopard, Sloth bear, Elephant, Sambar barking Deer, bonnet Macaque and Nilgiri langur. It's open throughout the year and the best season to visit this place is January to March. Trekking to forest area is the added attraction to this place
